Hillary remains about the same, she may be getting a change in her pain meds as they aren’t doing her as well as they had been. She seemed very tired today. She doesn’t sleep well thru the night ,she’s easily stiff and achy on top of all her other pain. In spite of it all, she did seem to enjoy everyone coming to see her and hanging out in a nice shady spot in the park.

Thanks Leah & Brad for coming all the way from Memphis TN to see Hillary this weekend! Jacquie, Ciera, Brennan and Indi all came to visit as well. The weather was great and so was going to the park. Since school and work is on the schedule for most of us for Monday, we’re doing a Memorial day cookout in the park tomorrow. We’re going to think ahead to next year’s and hope and pray that life will be so much better for Hillary this same day next year! We ask that all of you remember and pray for all the soldiers who have lost their lives and continue to fight for our freedom-if we forget about them then their lives and the fight is all for nothing.

Hillary had a very uncomfortable ride for approximately 45 minutes to the Ear Nose &Throat Dr appt. for 5 minutes of the Dr. time to tell her yes, she is healing and everything looks ok to him and then back to the center again!. The whole ordeal was wearing and tiring on Hillary and the added factor of not having any pain meds since 8am didn’t help the situation any considering she left the center at noon. Long day for Hillary, but it’s one appointment closer to getting better!

Hillary’s looking better and better everyday! It’s amazing to see how fast her skin is healing and it gives us hope that her bones are healing just as fast and hopefully the sooner she can start rehab the sooner she’ll be upright and walking again! Today she had a few visitors from Chapel Hill; her sister Jacquie, niece Ciera and nephew Brennan, and Indi. If anyone tries to call and there’s no answer, beware…..she’s surfing the net! We’re sure her sister’s laptop she’s using will keep her busy and occupy lots of down time for her. Tomorrow is her appointment with the Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor. Hoping all goes well and does her good to get out and on the road too for a little while anyway. Please keep Hillary in your prayers that she can get better enough to get out of here and back home with her family and friends. Thank you to all who care enough to visit this website and check in on Hillary it means so much to all of us!

The Dr. appt was rescheduled until Friday at 1:45 due to transportation issues. A friend, Alani, came to visit and they went to the park this afternoon-it was a beautiful day for that. It seems to do Hillary a lot of good to get outside. If you know Hillary, she’d rather be outside more than anything! So glad there is such a nice park right next door and she can get out to it! Thanks to all Hillary’s friends for all the great food you’ve been bringing she really appreciates it!

Physical therapy went better than expected and wasn’t as painful as Hillary thought it would be! This afternoon several friends came by to visit and there was a surprise visit from Indi for a little bit after school. Yea! Tomorrow will be busy as Hillary has a 1:45 pm follow up appointment with an Ear Nose and Throat Dr. in Johnson City. The center has a wheelchair van that she’ll be transported in. We hope all goes well and she gets a good evaluation tomorrow. Hillary is doing so well at moving herself in and out of the wheelchair-she doesn’t seem to need as much help and is moving with a lot more ease even though she still can’t bend her knees. She seems to improve a little with each new day!

Long Mondays still happen in nursing homes too, as this was one for Hillary. The physical therapist said tomorrow is going to be a hard day as they’re going to get a little more aggressive with her right leg and knee which seem to be giving her a lot of pain and has been very difficult to move or bend. Hopefully, the physical therapy will get a little easier and a lot less painful in time and get her closer to complete healing and recovery. We hope she has a good night so she’s rested for tomorrow.

It was a good time at the park and we stayed all afternoon. It was great to see all who came out and especially some old friends from Asheville. Indi also had a surprise visitor from an old friend. Hillary’s hip was bothering her more than usual along with the other usual daily pains. She did pretty well considering, but by the end of the afternoon she was getting very tired. It was about time to wrap up the afternoon and head back anyway. She was weighed this am and has lost at least 12 lbs, which is not surprising after all she’s been through. She ate pretty well this afternoon though, (of course the food was much better than the nursing home’s). Everyone has been doing so well at keeping her little fridge stocked with good food too! She really appreciates that! It’s sad when Indi leaves cause they know they won’t see each other until next weekend. We hope the week goes by quick for them.

Today was move out day of Hillary and Indi’s things…..”lots of things” (very mildly put). We don’t realize how much stuff we each have until we have to move it! There are absolutely not enough thanks in this world for each of you that came out today and helped! To be honest, I didn’t think this am when we first got there that there was any way this would be done in a month nevermind a day and of course it was a little emotional under the circumstances, but thanks to all, it is done! Thank you all so very much!!! All I can say is that there has to be extra jewels put in your crowns for this wonderful act of kindness! You are all very special people! Hillary thanks each of you as well and she knows she has such wonderful special friends in her life and appreciates each and every one of you!! We’re just overwhelmed by the generosity of each of you. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The new room is good….privacy, a fridge, a window, a reconnected phone line, a TV and DVD player, a mini fish tank, and a little more space! How easy it is to take such simple things in life for granted and Hillary doesn’t complain much, she’s so set on getting well and getting her life back! She looks like she’s healing so well and so fast;all of her lacerations, scrapes and burns are looking so much better! Her spirits-quite good today. (Thanks Ken and Wendy we know you had a lot to do with that!) Hillary said there seem to be a lot of people coming to visit on Sunday so if you can’t find her in her room go to the park cause we’re thinking…..a cookout/picnic – just bring what you want to eat. Instead of turning right into the Center go straight thru the open gates into the park and look for a party! Tomorrow is move out day for Hillary from her house and we cannot thank all of you that are planning to come out and help enough!! This is extremely hard on Hillary as this was her home with Indi and now it will all be moved into a storage locker. Let’s pray that it’s not long before she moves it all out again for a new and even better home! God bless all of you for your help, prayers and visits!
