Hillary’s been doing well. Rehab’s happening twice a week at the Wellness Center and daily at home. She uses her walker everyday (along with her wheelchair). She’s been out and about to do a little shopping and eating! It’s great for her to just get out of the house! All her friends, visitors and phone calls do a lot to lift her spirits and have helped her so much so far. She’s come such a long way -it’s wonderful to see! Most things are very challenging, but she’s got the determination and will power to overcome them. The next challenging step is to get her in and out of the pool (we’re waiting on the weather to cooperate) this will be excellent therapy for her as well as a little freedom from physical restrictions and contraptions and hopefully ease the pain of her healing bones and muscles! Her next appt with the Ortho. Dr is July 14th when more X-rays will be taken to check on her healing progress.

It’s been a week since Hillary has come home! It’s been great to have her here! She’s been doing incredibly well and has been making big progress!! Friday June 9th, the Doctor ok’d Hillary to start out-patient rehab at the Wellness Center in Boone. Today was her second day in Rehab and today was the first day she got “vertical” since the accident! Hillary stood up and walked a short distance with a walker and could sit and bend both knees downward for a short period of time! She did this several times today! She is toughing it out and she’s doing it! We see her healing and getting better a little bit everyday! We have so many thanks to give to those who have come out and visited, lifted her spirits in different ways and to those who stayed with Hillary this past week so her family could get back to work! (Thanks Wendy, Brent and Alani!) We appreciate you all so much!

Today was “break out day!” Finally Hillary is home!! Wow it is soooo good to see her out of the hospital and nursing home and everything that goes with them!! She’s sitting on the couch at this very moment! Absolutely wonderful to see! The ride home was so much better than we thought it might be. Boone Drug delivered all the equipment she’ll need this am and we’re so grateful that they were able to deliver so quickly! I think some strings might have been pulled and to that we are extremely grateful and especially to those responsible!! (Thank you so much!) Hillary and Indi are under the same roof at the same time……..they both need each other so much! We just want to thank each of you for all your prayers because ……Hillary is home and is healing every day and when we think back to day 1, we didn’t know that this day would even be possible. Don’t ever doubt the power of prayer!! Again thank you to everyone who came to visit and spend time with Hillary at the center, it would have been a lot different without the support of family and friends!!

We’re not exactly sure why the center could not provide transportation for Hillary to her Dr. appt today or why she wasn’t notified until last minute either. Needless to say, some phone calls were made and we’re shooting for Hillary to go home to her parent’s house this Wednesday! Hopefully a hospital bed, wheelchair and other needed things will all be delivered Wed am and then Hillary can come home!!! YEA! Her orthopedic doctor is ordering physical therapy at home and she has a rescheduled appt with his Asst. for Fri at 11 am. The Dr will check in on her as well to see where she’s at as far as rehab, etc. goes. We know Hillary is looking forward to moving ahead and soooo ready to do so!! It was an extremely frustrating and emotional day for Hillary. We’re so sorry she had to go through this, but we look at this as a blessing in disguise that’s bringing her home to us! We just hope that everything goes right and she’ll leave the center for good on Wednesday! Please keep her in your prayers and thank you for doing so!

Hillary’s had two days in a row of Physical Therapy and she’s feeling it tonight! She’s so tough…she’s getting herself in and out of the wheelchair and doing all kinds of things around her room. She really pushes herself which is exactly what it’s going to take to recover from her extensive injuries-a quitter she’ll never be! That’s our girl! We hope you all have a great weekend and we’ll hopefully give you a good report on Monday night or Tuesday about Hillary’s Dr appt on Monday. Please keep your prayers going! Thank you so much!

Hillary is improving on her own, sometimes out of necessity, but just goes to show what amazing willpower and strength she has. Maybe some of this is also determination to get out of there and back to her life again! Physical therapy happened today for only the fourth time since she’s been here. It was our understanding that she needs aggressive physical therapy daily as this is a crucial and critical time that she will never get back and will have a lot to do with how well and how quickly she can get back on her feet again and hopefully not have permanent damage. Today the therapists advised her that they have up to 15 patients a day and not enough help. We want to get Hillary out of there and very soon. This all hinges on what the Ortho Dr.’s evaluation of Hillary is on Monday. Please pray for her that she gets a very good evaluation.

Conditions are about the same today. Hillary had several visitors and some bearing great gifts of food, especially the brownies! We’re hoping and praying that next Monday when Hillary sees the Ortho Dr that he’ll give her good news….like she’s ready for rehab and maybe even outpatient rehab so that she can get home! Please keep her in your prayers so that this will become a reality! We really appreciate all the prayers, concerns and support that we still recieve from so many. The photo is Hillary & Brennan in the garden outside the center.

Hillary remains about the same, she may be getting a change in her pain meds as they aren’t doing her as well as they had been. She seemed very tired today. She doesn’t sleep well thru the night ,she’s easily stiff and achy on top of all her other pain. In spite of it all, she did seem to enjoy everyone coming to see her and hanging out in a nice shady spot in the park.

Thanks Leah & Brad for coming all the way from Memphis TN to see Hillary this weekend! Jacquie, Ciera, Brennan and Indi all came to visit as well. The weather was great and so was going to the park. Since school and work is on the schedule for most of us for Monday, we’re doing a Memorial day cookout in the park tomorrow. We’re going to think ahead to next year’s and hope and pray that life will be so much better for Hillary this same day next year! We ask that all of you remember and pray for all the soldiers who have lost their lives and continue to fight for our freedom-if we forget about them then their lives and the fight is all for nothing.

Hillary had a very uncomfortable ride for approximately 45 minutes to the Ear Nose &Throat Dr appt. for 5 minutes of the Dr. time to tell her yes, she is healing and everything looks ok to him and then back to the center again!. The whole ordeal was wearing and tiring on Hillary and the added factor of not having any pain meds since 8am didn’t help the situation any considering she left the center at noon. Long day for Hillary, but it’s one appointment closer to getting better!
